Since 2015 Mars has been on a journey to map our entire palm oil supply chain, achieving approximately 98% traceability to the mill level to date, and publishing our full mill lists since 2018.

Mars is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a non-profit membership organization that promotes the growth and use of sustainable palm oil. Since 2013, we have purchased 100% of our palm oil from RSPO-certified sources through the mass balance program.

More recently, Mars palm oil for Europe and Australia (2019), and now the Middle East (2020), is RSPO-segregated, meaning certified palm oil is kept separate throughout the entire supply chain. This has effectively reduced the number of mills we source from for the regions from approximately 1,500 to less than 150.

We will continue progress with simplification and segregation across additional regions in line with our ambition. The full list of Tier-1 partners and mills supplying palm oil to Mars are available below.
